Jane Townsend meets up with Ed Sheeran ahead of Suffolk Day (well almost)……

A college principal’s bid to meet up with Ed Sheeran ahead of Suffolk Day took an unexpected twist.

Jane Townsend from Easton and Otley College - is a fan of the award winning singer.

And whilst attempts to meet up with the Suffolk singer weren’t possible on this occasion, a mini Ed Sheeran lookalike called Oliver, and son of staff member Sarah Perry, stepped in to fill the void.

On Mr Sheeran, Miss Townsend, said, “I’m a huge fan of his music and whilst one day I really hope to meet the real Ed, meeting mini Ed ahead of the celebrations was the next best thing.”

On Suffolk Day itself, she added, “Suffolk Day is such a great campaign. One of my oldest friends has lived in Ipswich for many years and I love exploring this amazing county. I love the waterfront in Ipswich, the historic charm of Bury St Edmunds. I also love the glorious coastline here, let alone its sense of place within this country’s long history.

“Its rich farming heritage helps provide incredible produce for the many stunning restaurants and bars that are situated here. It has such a warm and homely feel as a county and we are proud to get involved in the celebrations.”

The Suffolk campus of the college has an ongoing love affair with the Castle on the Hill crooner. Last year, some students donned ginger wigs and came to the college dressed as Ed. Jane, supports her students pride in Ed as well as being a proud red head too.

This year, the college has organised a student fun day to celebrate the end of the year, the Otley campus and the county as a whole.
