Heavy Horses are welcomed to the yard

16 January 2019

The Equine Centre welcomed two new additions to the yard this week, as Jacob and Linus take their places in the large equestrian department.

The pair are draught horses, known for their extraordinary size and power. Linus, the younger of the pair and a percheron horse, stands at 18.1 hands high. Jacob, a shire horse, stands at a whopping 19.1 hands.

Both horses have been lent to Easton and Otley College by N&J Heavy Horses in Beccles, where they are frequently used for carriage-work at events, weddings, and much more.

Our students will be fortunate enough to work with these horses during the winter months, learning about horses of this size and the extra care they require.

It’s not only the students who are thrilled by the arrival of these horses. The equine team have expressed how lucky they feel to have these fantastic horses at Easton and Otley College, and look forward to the coming months working with them.
