Construction

Are you ready to build a better world? The UK’s £110bn construction industry employs 3m people but needs 230,000 more by 2020. Take your pick of 150 occupations, from bricklaying and carpentry to surveying and management. Our courses will help you climb the careers ladder.

Building a career in construction can be immensely rewarding. From being an apprentice craftsperson to site manager, from domestic to industrial, well-paid opportunities are everywhere. You will also leave your mark, quite literally, on the community. You might find yourself helping to build new, environmentally sustainable homes. You could be earning good money working on a nationally important construction project, such as the HS2 rail network. You might even end up working on the set of a new movie, constructing an alien world.

Whatever you want to do, you will need practical skills and qualifications to match. Our courses cover virtually every trade from painting and decorating to carpentry, plumbing and electrical installation. The starter levels give you the opportunity to try all the trades to find out where your talents lie. Our purpose built, £3.75m, ‘David Lawrence’ Construction Centre at Easton has every facility you need to master the fundamentals. Here you will learn about the latest construction techniques in our ‘Fabric First Institute’. This facility includes a low energy house where we train the environmental builders of the future.
