What is Clearing?
If your grades aren't what you were hoping for, you've changed your mind about where you want to study or you have made a UCAS application but don't hold any offers, clearing is an opportunity to still go on a similar course. It allows colleges and universities to fill up any vacant spots on their courses. Clearing is also available for students who have their results already, and are not holding an offer at a UK university.
You can use Clearing if:
· you’re applying after 30 June
· you didn’t receive any offers (or none you wanted to accept)
· you didn’t/don’t meet the conditions of your offers
· you’ve declined your firm place
When does it start?
From 5 July to 23 October, you can apply for a course using Clearing if you’re not already holding an offer from a university or college, and the course still has places.
How to use Clearing?
It is up to you to find a university that is prepared to accept you. The best way to do this is to check UCAS or the university website, ring them and tell them what you want to do. If they have a vacancy, they will usually take your details and either give you a decision straight away or soon afterwards.
A level results are released on the 15 August, is there anything I should be doing to prepare for Results Day?
It is helpful to make sure you are available on results day. Check how you are going to get your exam results and what time you will get them. Also, it is worth making a note of your GCSE subjects and grades, as sometimes courses require a particular grade at GCSE in addition to your A level results.
What are our opening hours?
Our admissions will be available all summer on 0800 022 4556: Monday to Friday 9am-5pm
