Animal Care Unit

All creature comforts

Opened in March 2014 by the Director of Colchester Zoo, Anthony Tropeano, the Bob Feltwell Centre is a state-of-the-art animal care unit equipped with a grooming parlour, veterinary room, aquatics area and the facility to house a vast range of animals; from blue tongue lizards and carnivorous spiders to long eared rabbits and alpacas. Making every one of them feel at home.

Students enjoy access to the unit as part of the Animal Husbandry module. You can also apply to work in the unit as a work experience placement helping day-to-day operations, administration and management. In recent years, this has lead to students securing employment with a variety of animal care employers, zoos, veterinary practices, the RSPCA, welfare shelters and pet shops.
